everse Implements Consolidated Database Environment with Failover Clustering for ValleyCrest Companies

LOS ANGELES, August 1, 2003 – Today, everse corporation (everse), a technology consulting, software development, and application outsourcing company, announced that it has completed the implementation of a consolidated database environment with failover clustering for ValleyCrest Companies, which provides a full array of landscape services through ValleyCrest Landscape Development, ValleyCrest Landscape Maintenance, ValleyCrest Golf Course Maintenance, Valley Crest Tree Company, and U.S. Lawns.

ValleyCrest’s database environment was divided into disparate systems running separate instances of SQL Server. The environment lacked the redundancy and failover functionality necessary to maximize the availability, facilitate the performance, and minimize the downtime of the servers and databases should one or more of the systems malfunction. Built on separate and disconnected systems, the infrastructure also lacked the modularity and scalability necessary to add new or modify existing elements.

Over the course of one month, everse infrastructure and database architects consolidated and enhanced ValleyCrest’s database environment. The everse team deployed new HP hardware configured with Windows 2000 Advanced Server and SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition. To enable secure and reliable access to all of ValleyCrest’s databases via a single virtual SQL Server instance, everse implemented Microsoft Clustering Services with failover functionality. The new consolidated and clustered environment ensures availability, enhances performance, and provides scalability for future modifications or additions.

The ValleyCrest database consolidation and enhancement leveraged everse’s Technology Assessment & Planning and Enterprise Application Integration services. everse applied its Technology Assessment & Planning expertise and resources to create a secure and adaptable platform that will support the new database environment and drive business performance and growth. Through its Enterprise Application Integration service, everse helped ValleyCrest aggregate its data sources and optimize its systems to deliver growth and operational effectiveness through the new environment.

According to everse Infrastructure Architect Mark Kaishar, “With multiple business units and a national network of branch offices, ValleyCrest’s operations and customer relationships depend on timely, streamlined, and reliable access to information. The company’s consolidated database environment with failover clustering helps ensure the company and its customers have secure and uninterrupted access to the information they need to do business.“
