Case Study: AmCham Shanghai

AmCham Shanghai

Engagement Summary

everse redesigned the AmCham Shanghai web portal delivering a dynamic, database-driven architecture that significantly enhanced member satisfaction, increased site stability, and increased AmCham Shanghai’s ability to manage site content.

Client Profile

The American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai (AmCham Shanghai) is a non-partisan, non-profit business organization and is one of the largest and fastest growing American Chambers in the Asia Pacific (3000 plus individuals from 1300 companies). The American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai is committed to the principles of free trade, open markets, private enterprise and the unrestricted flow of information.

Business Challenges

AmCham Shanghai’s website was experiencing stability and data integrity issues resulting in dissatisfaction among its members and high maintenance costs. In developing the new portal a number of challenges needed to be addressed:

  • The old site provided very limited personalization capabilities. Members could not organize their own information or manage related activities.
  • The platform was not stable or flexible enough to accommodate business growth.
  • Data inconsistency and systems downtime were annoying members and negatively impacting AmCham Shanghai’s bottom line.
everse Solution

everse re-architected the AmCham portal leveraging Microsoft  technologies including Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Content Management Server, Microsoft SQL Server, and the .NET framework. The new web site has achieved the business objectives of attracting new members, increasing member satisfaction, eliminating data integrity issues, and virtually eliminating systems downtime. Additional advantages of the redeveloped portal include:

  • The Registration application provides access to both member and non-member information, promoting membership growth and creating new opportunities for pursuing additional targeted marketing.
  • The personalized My AmCham allows members and registered users to manage their own information including membership, event RSVP, and committee enrollment.
  • The Content Management application allows AmCham staff to directly manage content online, improving turnaround-time and significantly reducing the requirement for outside maintenance and support.
